[5/5] For my final post of this thread, I bring you my favourite Father Time image. This is Father Time (with a scythe and hourglass) greeting Santa Claus (with a sack of toys) and a small child representing the New Year (1894).

[4/5] This Father Time lights a cigar to symbolize 1876 while 1875 goes up in smoke. It's captioned "Derniere fumee, premier feu!" which translates as "Last smoke, first fire".
Santa Claus has also smoked as far back as the Victorian age, although that has changed recently 😃
Fire is, of course, a recurring symbol in midwinter traditions.
