Final talk of my visit to India, at the Suraj School in Sector 56, Gurugram, outside Delhi 🇮🇳

A very excitable audience partly controlled by teachers shouting & blowing whistles at them 😳

Quite a challenge for me too: couldn’t connect to their projector, so I had to wing it & explain the motivations, development, launch, & science of #JWST largely without visuals, occasionally holding my laptop over my head 😬

A bit of downtime in Delhi on India Republic Day, with a visit to Humayun’s Tomb & others linked to the Mughal Empire.

This is the interior of Nai-Kai-Gumbad, the so-called Barber’s Tomb, built of sandstone in ~1590CE, although it’s not known exactly who is buried here.

Then a drive out to Ashoka University in the Rajiv Gandhi University City in Sonipat – another #JWST talk there tomorrow.

Without exaggeration, today was one of the most amazing & humbling opportunities I’ve ever had to talk about science & #JWST 😳

We went out to visit to the Telengana Tribal Welfare Upgraded Residential Junior College & School for Girls in Parigi, in the countryside about two hours west of Hyderabad.

The level of kind interest & enthusiasm from everyone, not least all the students, was remarkable 👏
