@helenajambor While I agree with these points, I use reference letters to sponsor young colleagues from institutions/countries that have zero visibility. Without this (biased) tool, their application would not be considered at all (in most cases). That being said, in a "perfect world", reference letters should not exist! #ScienceInAfrica #Inclusivity
