@Garwboy For what it's worth, there are shoddy movie plots about _everything_.

It's just that most people in most fields don't realize that television and film dramas are as bad in _every_ field as they notice them to be in _their own_ fields.

Barristers will tell you how ridiculous the portrayals of trials are. Telephone engineers will tell you that that's not how calls are traced. SOCOs cringe at evidence blunders. And so forth.

Nowadays, if the Bad Guy claims "I didn't have a choice." the Good Guy almost without exception piously asserts "You always have a choice.". It's pretty much versicle and response.

In #KnightRider in the 1980s, however, Michael Knight just made an annoyed face and shouted "I don't know what that means!".

I had THAT moment tonight--the one all #HorrorWriters crave while they're #writing ... I creeped myself out so much that I had to close my document and hug my dog for comfort. And then when I was letting Myrtle out for her evening constitutional, I had that feeling of knowing something horrifying was waiting behind every corner.

That's how I know I'm in the right place for this #screenplay.

As far back as 10 years ago, probably further back, the tendency developed to start with a screenplay but end up writing a novel - toggling between the two.

Not necessarily a bad thing. The irritation caused at times - script, text, script? No, text - is eased by using a good writing app, such as #Scrivener. Very easy to have script version & text running. At some point a decision made to stick with one form over the other. Though they can profitably feed off each other.

I am making my first steps into filmmaking after years away. So, I am looking for some #scriptwriting advice. I have a concept that is very autobiographical albeit repackaged as a horror story. How autobiographical is too autobiographical?

Class felt extra long tonight... but Myrtle made it w/o getting whiny/barky until the last 5 minutes. The good news is that I received mostly positive feedback on my new script pages and two very useful suggestions. Part of me wants to finish this script to see if I can make something happen with it; another part of me is intimidated by the idea entirely. Regardless, it's been a fun semester. Next week I have to write the always dreaded synopsis.
