Yesterday was the rainiest day I ever jogged in! Got damp through my “99% waterproof” running boots and gloves. And my beautiful neighbour creek was a marvel to behold. I’m grinning here because I’m about to go back inside…
but I think trying my best to get out in every weather every morning is helping my #SeasonalAffectiveDisorder this year. I feel every gradation of weather and sunlight and I have extra endorphins when I do.
I jogged #today but with a lot less energy. The weather is misty but not bad. I slept poorly last night, and maybe it’s just my super-full week (book talk event, zoom support group, teaching, guest teaching, and then tomorrow night Gd willing dashing across the border to spend Shabbat with my sister) catching up.
Or maybe it’s February (always my worst #SeasonalAffectiveDisorder month) creeping in.
Jogging was probably better than not jogging at all, but I still feel like crying.

I don't know if it's related to #SeasonalAffectiveDisorder or what, but every year since I was a kid I get this really weird bout of early January social #anxiety. Something about retreating from my friendships in December to make room for #family and the #holidays just puts me in this weird headspace, and I'm not a fan.

We’re inching closer to the darkest and cloudiest time of year in Ontario.
I miss bright sunlight so much, but at least we’re only 22 days away from the winter solstice and incrementally more light each day after that.
