#Nostr feels like the dev didn't understand #SecureScuttlebutt and tried to "fix" it anyway.
He didn't get the chaining of messages and why peer to peer was worth the hassle, so all the metadata are left in the open (who speaks to whom, and even the message length), you have to use the same relay to speak to someone…
And all the hard problems that took years of discussing them before being implemented in #ssb, nostr people are like "we'll just throw bitcoin at it and it will solve everything". 🙃

I've been on-and-off trying different distributed social networks over the years, including #Diaspora, mastodon, #SecureScuttlebutt etc... But there's never been enough people for it to be sticky...

Now however this great #twittermigration has meant there's more than enough critical mass in over half a dozen interest topics / communities to keep me around!

I've been mostly off social media for the last few years, thank you Elon for ultimately causing the rebirth of what social media should be!

While I wasn't able to get #patchwork running on my new machine (and honestly I didn't try that hard), it looks like #oasis installed super easily, so now I can look around the #scuttleverse and finally use #SecureScuttlebutt / #ssb on my own.
