the reality of it all, living in this world, is you have to constantly do the work to get back to your true self.

you know what that is, you just hid it really well from yourself.

why? cause you had to save yourselves from forces that you couldn't comprehend or you just didn't know your own power or a multitude of other possibilities.

in short, you were not ready.

but now you are, and you have to come to terms with who you are. have the courage to accept who you really are and walk in sync with that self.

It's not easy. it's hard work, but you have more to gain doing that work rather than not doing it.

Pages remind us we are all students learning to work with ourselves and the elements of life. Discernment can be a hard thing when we’ve accumulated lots of exposure to the wrong signals, like abusive people or traumas.

We often learn to overcorrect for ghosts we’ve faced before, and become dangerous, impulsive, chasing away anything that looks familiar. Unlearning the impulse to act quickly is fundamental to our growth.

Attention : making people pretend to be neurotypical is like forcing yourself to use that annoying customer service voice all the time. It's draining and adds unnecessary stress. Let's just embrace our quirks and be ourselves, shall we?

I know firsthand the struggle of masking. It's that feeling of pretending to be neurotypical and hiding your true self in order to fit in. But you know what? Masking is exhausting and it's okay to be yourself. Embrace your and let your quirks shine!

It's ok to not want to do it anymore. It's ok to not want to be the person who always reaches out, who always does the work, who always fixes things, who always puts the puzzle back together. And maybe you'll end up one day realizing that you only really and truly have 2 people in the world when you're much more of a social creature than you originally thought, but so what? If it means not setting yourself up to be hurt and let down every time, that's ok. You don't have to always be the one. You can let other people do the work, and if they don't, then at least you know you didn't waste your time.

edition. The Second Mrs Astor by Shana Abe. The blurb describes this as a about the but I think that somewhat undersells what this is about. Yes the Titanic is featured, and it’s is a major plot element, but to me this book is more about seeking in but then moving on to release is more important. We follow the story of Madeline as she marries into the highest of

好像很多人都喜欢回头谴责年少的自己,什么羞耻于当年追星啦之类的。早年我也有这类想法,现在就觉得:I was super awesome at that age!!!!
