@onisillos another reminder of the heterogeneity within one disease label such as "ARDS" and also that the common aspect of all inflammatory diseases is the human immune system, so it's not surprising to find overlap between host responses seen in ARDS and sepsis. Can Sepsis AI Save Lives?

Last summer, there were highly acclaimed publications of an #ML model called 'TREWS' in Nature Medicine. Sepsis alarms were integrated into a Clinical Decision Support System #CDSS, enabling earlier detection of #Sepsis. Due to the alerts, antibiotics were administered approximately 2 hours earlier, resulting in a reduction of mortality by 3.3% (absolute) and 18.7% (relative).
