Today's update is #Momepy and #Pysal may give unexpected results due to #PyGeos and #Shapely 2.0 compatibility.

Based on the PR comments #473 https://github.com/pysal/momepy/pull/473, it is a Shapely 2.0 compatibility issue.

Based on guidance here https://github.com/pysal/momepy/pull/473#issuecomment-1465730704 and noting a GeoPandas discussion here https://github.com/geopandas/geopandas/issues/2691#issuecomment-1375890344 I have a workaround and the issue will be fixed.

Thanks to @martinfleis for his work on this and his timely help and advice.

9. The OSM and centre-line track-model data is aggregated prior to mapping onto hexagons using the #Shapely `mergeline` function.

10. Sometimes predictive text and autocorrect sucks. For example, predicated is not the same as predicted.

Following the traces of Shapely (cf. its recent 2.0 release) there is now "Spherely".

It is still nowhere near Shapely's maturity and capabilities, but working on this project is exciting. More to come soon, hopefully!

Tested #shapely 2.0rc1 with my convoluted project
(https://github.com/nialov/fractopo/tree/build-test-shapely-2.0rc1) that mixes
and mashes geometric operations with (big) requirements for consistency. No
issues (except badly defined geometries that were not previously reported as
errors)!

None of the regression tests even needed to be changed, which is a bit
surprising because some of them have pretty strict numerical requirements for
the results.

Still need to clean out some direct pygeos uses later.

Shapely 2.0 rc 1 is available for testing!

Shapely 2.0 is going to be a great release with many improvements (full changelog: https://shapely.readthedocs.io/en/latest/release/2.x.html#version-2-0-0), but also some changes.
