My short Diggin' A Hole has been selected for Grand River Film Festival as part of the Local Shorts program in Cambridge. Unless something remarkable happens, I believe this will be the last screening in a theatre.

Time tracking for #PostProduction on my last #ShortFilm. Nearly 242 hours and I'm still not done. The downside of being the entire post production department.

I am close. Final audio processing/mixdown is close. Maybe ten hours on the outside.

Visual FX is solved. I know how to do it, with PoC, I just need to get it done. Four or five hours, barring any serious issues.

Colour correction is being done by my DP. Once I get my VFX shots comped in I'll be able to shit the project off to him.

Got my sixth festival acceptance today.

My short, Diggin' A Hole, has been accepted for the Toronto Short Film Festival, running from March 18th - 21st.

This is now six more festivals than I ever thought would pick up this film.

For the last few years, I have made it a tradition to mark the new year by posting the short film “They’re Made Out of Meat” over on FB. This is an utterly arbitrary tradition on my part. I had nothing to do with the making of the film. It’s not particularly relevant to the turning of the year.

I just think it’s a fun way to start a new lap around the sun. So now the tradition moves to the ‘verse.

When Covid hit and theaters were still closed after a year, I refocused on #film after my wife saw how bored I was and told me to stop hemming and hawing over the audition for the #Horror #ShortFilm #TheWoodsman and just make the damn tape. She was right as always. I did it and I booked it.

Design is one of those things I wish I'd spent more time on when I was a kid.

In the absence of budget to pay for a poster (actually did commission and pay for one, but it was flaming hot garbage and I never used it) I get to do it myself.

I'd love a better poster and design, but I'm about 95% of my capacity. It's not going to get much better than this (by my hand, at least). Planning on getting some texture in there, but I'm almost done with it

The room we shot my last short in was a rectangle with a fairly low ceiling. A boxy room with a lot of natural slap back reverb.

The most annoying part of doing post audio on this has been using noise reduction and transient shapers to pull out the reverb, knowing full well that I'm going to add reverb back again when the dialogue, foley, and fx are all mixed down.
