I add that this sort of effect is _very_ common in the computing word. I first encountered it on a #SinclairQL in the 1980s.

#SuperBASIC on the QL would remember the case of any variable name in a program the first line of code that was typed with it in, and any subsequent lines entered would be case-insensitively matched and (_unlike_ #Mastodon) forcibly changed to use the existing casing.

Heaven help you if you used some mad casing the first time.

Update:

- Corrected to reflect that the Timex Computer 2048 never existed out of the lab. Timex Portugal did pursue that project further and produced the #TC2068 independently after the Timex Sinclair joint venture fell apart. Most TC2068s were sold in Poland.

- Added the glaring omissions of the #ZX80 and the #SinclairQL.

Somebody told me to delete the Spectrum Next but this is about recorded history. What exists, exists.

So my #SinclairQL ROM upgrade was a success, which is a relief! I've been moderately annoyed for 35 or so years that my QL did not ship with the latest set!

So today's #retrocomputing project was to upgrade my #SinclairQL ROMs from JM to JS.
Then I bumped into my N-Go (Spectrum Next clone) and my recapped #ZXSpectrum and my new vDriveZX which I need to try out and... well, one thing led to another and QL is still on JM. :D

Going to have a quick tidy up and get it done now though. Maybe after just one more game of Jetpac ...
