Just wanted to share this great info here that Calc shared with me. For those interested in setting up a single user instance (SUI) and want to use object storage, here are some recommended options. From the perspective of a single-user instance runner, what does my TOS/privacy policy need to look like?

Jurisdictionally, my instance runs on a server and has object storage based in Germany/Europe, and I am accessing it from Canada.

I'm finding a ton of information on the technical requirements of running my own instances. I'm having a much harder time finding pertinent legal ones.

1) If someone can, do you think it's worth them setting up one considering everything going on with the mass exodus PLUS the issues here?

2) Has anyone set it up with Docker or Podman on an Oracle Cloud Instance?

3) Any advice for people wanting to set up a single user instance?

Ja ich bin Kunde bei @markus mit einer eigenen Instanz von Mastodon und damit immer noch sehr zufrieden. 😁

Bisher ist das eine #SingleUserInstance und bis auf weiteres wird das auch erstmal so bleiben.

Zudem existiert nun noch mein Blog im Fediverse als quasi eigene Instanz. 😏

How much Traffic & Workload on the Server a #SingleUserInstance will generate depends on how you use it. 😉

I just occasionally publish a new Toot, more times I replying to someone else.
So this use case the Server can handle very well. 😀

But if I think about publishing every couple of Minutes a short #Toot about what I am doing with media files attached to, that could be a whole different Story. 😅
