Back in #Siquijor for a few days' relaxation.
Best thing every trip? The resort owners' 4 adopted rescue dogs always greet me like the long-lost dog-deity that I probably am.
Another week in #Siquijor starts today. Driving on empty roads, checking out land, finding waterfalls in the forest, swimming off white sand beaches, catching up with friends. A very welcome break.
This is fun.
Turns out the "affidavit of sole heir" document that the legality of the land rested on, was full of false info about the previous seller.
Like: him being an only child (he actually has several living siblings who could come forward and claim a share).
So, thanks to a young, sharp lawyer (and to our friends who tracked down the helpful neighbours of this "only child"), we can walk away, having spent only a few bucks on a survey.
Phew.
Buying land in #Siquijor is _hard_.
On tenterhooks...
Today we should learn from our lawyer if a land parcel we want to buy in #Siquijor #Philippines is legally good to go.
Hoping the answer is yes - it's a great lot, nearly 1 hectare, peaceful location with panoramic views across to Negros and Cebu.
According to my car's satnav, every road on #Siquijor Island is called Burgos Street.
Would be fun if true ("you go down Burgos St, then turn into Burgos Street, and then look out for Burgos Street, you can't miss it"), but sadly I suspect the car may be in the wrong here.
Reminds me of the Monty Python Bruces sketch.
Another few days on Siquijor. White sand beaches, clear water, clean air, rolling hills, virgin forest, panoramic views, pristine waterfalls, cheap eateries, empty roads, friendly people. Basically paradise on earth.

Back home from our neighbouring island of #Siquijor. Suitably sunburnt and happily exhausted. That trip went waaaaaay too fast. Good to be reunited with my canine best buddy though.

Finally made it back from #Siquijor to #Negros following #typhoon #OdettePH.
Still no power at home but fiber internet is working and mobile signal has just come back too.
But we're safe and well, so is our home helper, her daughter, and our dog, and our house.
Considering the typhoon's strength, things could have been much worse.

Well this is fun.
On Monday we took the ferry to #Siquijor to help friends move house. Now we're stranded because #typhoon #OdettePH is coming and the boats are cancelled.
Luckily our dogsitter can stay at our house an extra couple of days.
Also luckily we found a resort with (a) rooms, (b) passable wifi and (c) a leeeetle bit of mobile signal, all of which are pretty rare on Siquijor.
So we're holing up until the rain stops and keeping in touch with the ferry companies.
