@godmaire from my experience, the both DevOps Engineer and SRE are titles that are very much defined by the employer.

One of my first experiences with the title, I was almost singularly focussed on Observability, so configuring Dynatrace, Datadog, CW, PagerDuty, etc.

Other roles have been more wholistic and DevOpsy with some Cloud Architecture tossed. So actually building out Cloud infra + pipelines, but also focussed on building in resilliency.

DevOps - combination of the words “development” and “operations.” Key Facts & Overview:
▶️ 2000s - the roots of DevOps can be traced back to the Agile software development movement.
▶️ 2009 - the term “DevOps” was first coined in by Patrick Debois, a Belgian IT consultant.
▶️ The key principles of DevOps is the concept of “infrastructure as code.”

One of the fundamentals of #SiteReliabilityEngineering is that "human error is never the cause of outages". By this we mean that if a human /can/ make a mistake which takes out a system, it's not their fault.

A no blame culture is important for a well-functioning team.

Defining an #SLO is an iterative process. You might not get it right the first time, but that's ok! Keep at it. Just like when you're working on a #bouldering problem. Sometimes, it takes a few tries + a few tweaks before you nail the move.
