On this day in 1939, what can easily be described as the darkest years in Slovakia's modern history began with the establishment of the Nazi-puppet #SlovakState which deported thousands of its citizens, including Jews, Roma and many other inconvenient "elements", to concentration camps.
It wasn't until August 1944 and the Slovak National Uprising that Slovakia rejoined the ranks of civilised nations.
