21st Street used to be designated as a #SlowStreet, making it one of the few safe paths for east/west cycling. On the same day that SF pulled out all that Slow Street signage from 21st St, they installed concrete barricades in Capp St to cut down on prostitution.

#SanFrancisco’s local government doesn’t give a fuck about the safety of cyclists or pedestrians.

Nick Sousanis made a mini-comic about the importance of car-free streets for Safety, Community, & Climate. It covers a lot of #SanFrancisco projects (#JFKpromenade & Page #SlowStreet), but it's intended to raise awareness of how others can work to build slow streets in their cities.
