Im Polnisch-Russischen Krieg gelingt den Polen nach 20-monatiger Belagerung die Einnahme des russischen Smolensk.

Der Krieg endete 7 Jahre später, 1618 mit dem Vertrag von Deulino, in dem Polen-Litauen territoriale Zugeständnisse gemacht wurden, das damit seine größte territoriale Ausbreitung erreichte.
