Dopo #SnowRunner mi son fatto anche il tutorial di #MudRunner per decidere a chi dare priorità. La differenza principale, oltre all'aspetto visivo meno d'impatto, è la rozzezza generale, appropriata al contesto. L'essenzialità di un gameplay centrato. Ti dice dove andare, propone qualche sfida a contorno, stop. Sta a te salire sul mezzo e riuscire ad arrivare in fondo superando gli ostacoli a base di fango misto fango (solo fango).

Per essere di nicchia #SnowRunner (simulatore di automezzi fuoristrada con malus neve come MudRunner prima di lui aveva malus fango) è piuttosto conosciuto. È stato capace di rivoluzionare l’idea dominante delle quattro (o più) ruote nei #videogiochi ossia la velocità rimpiazzata da una lentezza estrema, divertente per gli stessi motivi, arrivare al traguardo restando “in strada”. In questo caso percorsi accidentati con mezzi che trasportano l’equivalente del peso calcolato in elefanti

First impressions of #Snowrunner: It's a bit more arcade-like than I was expecting. The engine noise isn't in synch with what the truck is doing isn't in synch with the speedometer. Like what you see on the speedometer as the difference between 15 MPH and 40 MPH is basically the same as one would reasonably expect in #AmericanTruckSimulator as 7-10 MPH.

In #Snowrunner, how do you disable auto-reverse? If I'm holding the brake pedal, I don't expect it to abruptly decide "Oh, you mean back up" and reverse when I'm explicitly shifted to drive. @TruckSim

If you play #SnowRunner, you’ll believe me when I say that the Imandra map is truly testing my patience. I’ve enjoyed the occasional challenges and things to figure out I’ve encountered so far, but this map is a pure showcase of cruelty and trolling on the developers’ part.

quickly realizing why i stopped playing #Snowrunner. not being able to use gearing to compensate for engine torque limits is *extremely* irritating and throws me right out of the game. gearing is an absolutely massive part of vehicle design for offroad environments. the very first thing anyone does with a street vehicle they intend to seriously offroad with is change the differential gear ratio to gain more torque for climbing hills. the whole point of a low range transfer case IRL is that it increases torque.

maybe if i didn’t understand this stuff from personal experience IRL it would bother me less (unlikely) but jfc. why build such a grand game about offroad vehicles and then just completely fuck up the drivetrains??

i’m starting to suspect that low range gears in #Snowrunner do absolutely nothing except lower your top speed, which is NOT how low range gears work.

if i can climb a hill more easily in regular first gear than in low-low, there is something deeply wrong with the drivetrain modeling.

playing #Snowrunner for the first time in months. forgot how much i enjoy this game. even if i do have to pretend i don’t hear the nonsensical engine and transmission behavior.
