I know people who call them cokes, pop, soda and soda pop.
I generally use soda pop, but I'm someone that has lived in several regions of the USA, as well as have family members from several areas. I think the majority of my family uses "coke" as a generic reference to carbonated soft drinks.
As a reference point, I've lived in IA, MN, AZ, LA, & MS. Most linguists believe me to be from NM.

Personally, if I HAD to choose a #SoftDrink, I'd choose coke over pepsi, but I rarely drink soft drinks. I did once hear a young guy in the Army complaining that down south they referred to ALL soft drinks as cokes. "What would you like to drink?" "A coke."
