Hi Ben,
I am #autistic + #ADHD and labs are a nightmare for me. I am currently taking Newtonian #Mechanics at the same CC and I have an informal accommodation with my current professor where I don't go to lab, I get the experimental data from a classmate, and I complete the lab calculations at home.

If I had known earlier about the change in the mask policy, I could have transferred to another local college which does have both Physics I and II available as online only, except it's too late now as there are already 18 students on the waitlist for the fully online Physics II.

I took a biology with lab class during the total shutdown portion of the pandemic; watching a recording of the instructor and an assistant doing the data collection part of the labs, which I could rewatch as many times as I wanted, was *much much better for me* than doing them in person myself. I had a much higher success rate and understanding with the lab portion of that class than I would have if I'd had to do it in person.

Additionally, there is no reason why the lecture needs to be in-person, and my community college has a particularly illogical policy of not allowing the prof to post a recorded lecture, even if they have to be out sick or something, because they want to keep classes either fully online or fully in person for no educational-sucess-based reason.

tl;dr I do better with at-home recorded labs and I do really well with the theoretical part of class (95% average on my exams), but labs only confuse me because I am never clear on exactly what I am supposed to be doing and my measurements are always off. I'm going to be a #SoftwareEngineer, not a physicist, so no worries about that being an issue in my professional life.

I decided to make an intro toot before it becomes possible for this to make it too far out into the Fediverse. It might already be too late.

I'm Krona. I'm typically a lurker. I'm sure I'm neurodivergent, but I doubt I'll ever reach the level of certainty necessary to confidently say that I'm Autistic (and possibly an ADHDer). I'm #disabled but new to thinking of myself that way. I'm a #BIPOC, #nonbinary (#agender specifically), and #aroace. I have #alexithymia and am most comfortable when my environment and the people around me are neutral and calm.

I work from home as a #SoftwareEngineer and am currently only working on websites. The languages I use the most are C# and the standard front-end ones. I mostly work with Vue and TypeScript.

I spend most of my free time playing #RPGs (mainly on #PS4, #Android, and #PC), watching #fantasy and #SciFi tv shows, and doing #genealogy and #Autism research. I sometimes also attempt to #write fiction. I used to #read fantasy fiction voraciously but somehow managed to forget how to do that. I spend too much time obsessively reading news stories and blog posts instead. I also forgot how to watch #anime and read #manga.

I am in school now working on a #ComputerScience associate's degree for transfer with the intention of becoming a #SoftwareEngineer. I am passionate about #Education and I thrive in a fully remote, asynchronous learning environment. I had been really concerned about what to do after I get my associate's at the end of the coming spring semester because the local colleges have very few online offerings, but I finally found a fully online asynch bachelor's degree program that qualifies for federal *and* state funding and I'm so relieved! So thank you for helping to make those options viable!

I would love to work for a company that offers online learning opportunities some day!

I also lived vegan for ~7 years (would like to get back to it someday but I have to prioritize getting enough to eat, which is tough given other aspects of my situation), am #AuDHD, was an avid #SciFi and #Fantasy reader growing up, and though I am way out of practice now, have had wonderful experiences with #Yoga (especially #AshtangaYoga) and even thought of training to be an instructor for a while.

I'm Claudia, #transgender / (#autigender), #ActuallyAutistic & #ActuallyKinetic (#AuDHD), #pluralgang, all wrapped in an outer shell of #SoftwareEngineer like chocolate.

I'm almost 33, finally working towards recovering from Burnout, and trying to accept a #CPTSD diagnosis that my 🧠brain seems to want to disbelieve or deny.

I don't really know what all my interests are through the #anhedonia and this whole identity crises, but it's not my first identity crisis by any stretch, nor my first Burnout.

So far the topics that I've recognized either spark joy or are mostly escapism:
- #books (mainly fiction, scifi, fantasy, etc.)
- #tv & #movies (again mostly fiction)
- #music (tainted interest in folk metal I can sometimes still access, but mostly just repeating one playlist we found on Spotify inspired by the song "space girl" by Frances Forever)
- #space (& #AstroPhysics, #cosmology, speculation and daydreaming)
- #MentalHealth & #SocialJustice (I'm real big on improving myself, I want to be someone I can like and respect someday)

I'd really like to incorporate new hobbies or revive old ones I've long abandoned from discouragement and disillusionment. I want to make music, draw, maybe even write.
Burnout & Anhedonia are making this hard right now, but I figure that I'm stuck now living without any exit strategy, so I'd like to figure some way to tolerate it better and not find myself back in Burnout like this ever again.

I'm still isolating through a third year of... this whole you know what I'm talking about thing. I'm sad and lonely and sometimes that leaks out into the Surface Self, but I usually just pretend to be OK bc it's upsetting to me to imagine how off-putting or sad it might make my friends to know 🤐😅
