Has anyone started a instance (or 10 or 100) for musicians who want to talk to -- within or across genres? especially. Is there a subnet or hub or list or something? Or a social-net outside Mastodon? A multi-instrumentalist and performer friend is giving up on Facebook and searching for alternative connections.

Have you ever had your lyrics misheard?

On my song "Back to Our Bliss," my daughter thought my line "I am back to taste your kiss" was "I am back to taste your kids!" Ewwwww!

When I played back my own demo of "Patient Portal," my line "I keep keying in my password" sounded like "I keep peeing in my pants - word!" So I changed "keying" to "typing."

For me a glimmer of the emerging we don’t yet hear tell enough about.

Klein on Instagram: "🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨 potentially targeting #kidlit writers: On Saturday I was contacted by a woman named Denise who asked me to write a poem for her four-year-old son’s birthday, offering $300. The pay was obviously great & I enjoy writing occasional doggerel, so I agreed. She gave me a few details about her son “Joe,” & I knocked out the poem in about 15 minutes on Sunday. She asked for my email address so she could send me a photo of a check that I could deposit. The check image arrived today in the amount of $3000 — a “miscommunication with her husband” — and with a different name than appeared on her IG account (which was locked). She said that if the check wasn’t deposited, she’d be locked out of her account for three months. This obviously made no financial sense, & I’d read about a scam where a victim deposits a check & then gives the check-writer money back, only to have the check bounce when it goes back to its original bank. So I told her I wasn’t comfortable depositing it — and after one push, she hasn’t followed up (despite the three-months claim), which tells me it really was a scam. . So, fellow #kidlit writers, beware! Someone is preying on our talent & kindness to try to take advantage of us, and we shouldn’t fall for it. Also, writing the poem was fun, and if anyone really would like to commission me to compose a goofy poem for an occasion, my rates are low & my DMs are open. 📝#scammer #fraudalert #amwriting #poetrycommunity #picturebookwriter"
