Good to know beforehand: if you're going to wipe the firmware of a Sonoff device to replace it with a custom one (Tasmota is my usual choice), make sure you're making a backup of it.
If for any reason you want to restore the factory firmware, whatever copy you'll find online won't work because it doesn't have there right device ID in it. So you'll be stuck to using a custom firmware.
A little @homeassistant win from the weekend. Adding a couple of #Shelly and #Sonoff WiFi switches to the bathroom lights so I can inhibit the noisy extractor fan overnight, and set a timer to stop the kids leaving the lights on all night.
As an added plus the fan run-on timer is now done using a HA script so I have total control.
Nice.

Really pleased I found info on hacking the #Sonoff NSPanel. At last, a tidy wall device running a proper @home_assistant dashboard! Pretty game changing compared to the past options. Thank you for that @blakadder_!

Right now I'm using #NodeRed as my own API for my personal website (handling contact forms, sending confirmation emails, etc.). I also use pair it with #Airtable to store a lot of my data (looking into self-hosting #BaseRow though)
In #HomeAssistant I've just been exploring how I can get everything integrated into it and talking to each other. I'm using #Sonoff switches and sensors mainly to start my triggers, I also use #Kasa switches for most of my lights too which has been clutch

@kconkas I have added a #sonoff #zigbee bridge to my #HomeAssistant network to handle this. Works really good and not much hassel. But I prefere #Tasmota !
#tasmota #homeassistant #zigbee #Sonoff
Das #Sonoff SmartPlug ist noch schlechter als die Osram SmartPlugs.
Es verliert deterministisch nach einigen Minuten die Verbindung zu zigbee2mqtt.
Naja, so gesehen sogar besser. Man kommt gar nicht auf die Idee, es zu benutzen.
Got #Sonoff S20, which is basically an #ESP8266 with a relay in a nice package. Never even powered it on with an original firmware, immediately soldered in goldpins and flashed with #ESPEasy.
Now my #IoT christmas lights can be turned on and off using #curl !
Then I've noticed that I can set up the times using simple scripting on the ESP itself - so now I'm not even using the WiFi portion of the whole thing ๐ Totally recommended, even if soldering the goldpins was a bit of a pain
