"Favourite character sheet"

Die Sheets von #CallOfCthulhu und #TrailOfCthulhu sind schon ziemlich funktional und gefällig. Allerdings enthalten sie immer auch viel Ballast an Skills, den man gar nicht braucht. Der Bogen zu #Pathfinder2 ist dahingehend toll, dass man recht genau nachvollziehen kann, wie die eigenen Werte zustande kommen. Ähnlich machts auch #Dungeonslayers mit seinem großen Sheet. Ein Alptraum, graphisch wie funktional, ist das Original von #SotDL/SdDF.

There are also multiple Shadows of the Demonlord bundles on the #bundleofholding #SotDL

Just got into some #sotdl campaign a friend on Discord was running. Seems cool! I quite like the modular character creation.

Anyone know a repository of goofy builds, stories, etc. that Shadow of the Demon Lord admits?

18. If you go merely by hours played at the moment, #DCCRPG would be my favourite #TTRPG system. In previous years, I’d’ve nominated #CallOfCthulhu or #ShadowOfTheDemonLord for the mechanics and the lore. I also have an abiding love for #Traveller.

Truth be told, however, as I play more and more different RPG systems (over 100 since the COVID pandemic began), I’ve increasingly come to realise that I don’t play for the systems—I play for the people.

Choosing between them is like choosing between children… who you also don't play with. 🤔

I hear #WHFRP 4e is fairly close to 2e, but I’ve not had time to look into it, sadly, and it also strikes me as a bit premium-pricy anyway—not something I can do much anymore.

@Rollenspielblog In meiner #SotDL-Runde gabs einen SC, dem ein zahmes Eichhörnchen zugelaufen war. Das wohnte dann - er war ein Uhrwerk - hinter einer Klappe in seiner Brust. Hat prima funktioniert. Der SC hat ständig mit dem Tier interagiert, es gab dadurch ziemlich witzige Szenen. In gefährlichen Situationen verkroch sich das Tier halt in seiner Höhle. Hätte sicher dazu geführt, dass sein Leben ggf. mit dem des SC geendet hätte, aber dazu kams zum Glück nie. Klappt sicher nicht mit jedem Tier.

@luigirenna @deinol I’m a 1-2e guy and certain settings go better with certain systems. IMO #Darksun and #DragonKingsProject are optimal in 2e even though I know groups who’ve used #3x #PF1, #SW, or #SotDL to their own enjoyment.

@HeyeBodo So far, I've been put off #SotDL by the adolescent faecal humour. However, I find the fast progression super exciting. I don't like to stick to one game, one endless campaign, for years. Exceptions prove the rule.

@AetherEgo I’ve never played #SotDL (though I have a copy in my shelf and read it. One day: #SotDL goblin campaign ☺️). I think R. Schwalb developed a really cool #dnd variant and the apocalyptic demonlord setting is something. IMO the boon/bane mechanic is an elegant take on the roll d20+ resolution system. What I don‘t like so much about the game, is the ultra-fast character progression (I know, it is a design choice to enable Zero-to-hero-arcs in short campaigns)

#OSR for its comparative simplicity -- I know OSR well enough that I could run it with nary a problem; I couldn't say the same for the original AP, written for D&D3.5.

#SotDL because Age of Worms is, at its heart, the story of some folks who want to get out of their backwater mining town, and end up confronting the apocalypse.

14. My favourite #TTRPG PC possession was a warm patch of floor by the fire in the pub around which one of @tinstargames' #SotDL campaigns revolved. Every night, it mysteriously cleaned itself; my orcish refugee, Chancre, often curled up in it, despite horrific nightmares it inflicted upon anyone foolish enough to sleep too close. It was some sort of very unfriendly fey portal that slowly sent Chancre mad(der), though I don't know that we actually resolved its backstory. #gtkm
