#SoulHackers2 platinum trophy got!

Something I like about #SoulHackers2 is that the protagonists are middle-aged. (Well, canonically. They're still drawn looking very young.) It makes a nice change from the majority of SMT games where you're a school kid.

Why oh why isn't #SoulHackers2 on Switch? It feels much more like an on-the-go game than SMTV (a Switch exclusive). SH2 should have been on Switch and SMTV on PlayStation and Xbox, instead of the other way around.

Tip for new game plus on #SoulHackers2: you get to pick what carries over from your previous playthrough - I advise NOT choosing to carry over the dungeon maps. I carried them over thinking it would be useful to have the maps already laid out, but it's actually a hindrance because part of the usefulness of the map is to check where you've already explored. Having the map fully unlocked makes this a drag!

Plus, it's just satisfying watching the map gradually fill in.

I think the game is really starting to show its weaknesses, which IMO are a significant amount of backtracking to old areas on its (admittedly optional) requests, and the Soul Matrix

Good idea, but they really needed to make those three distinct and/or a little more mechanically interesting

It's three long dungeons all of which look exactly the same and feature basically the same enemies, and floor 3 is a warp maze 😓

Some more #SoulHackers2 musings before ditching yinz for work...

I really like how talkative the characters are during combat... hubby was in the room yesterday while I was playing, and later commented on how annoying he'd find it, so 😅

Also they maybe could've done a better job pacing the Soul Matrix areas for us players with no impulse control, because they all unlocked at once, and now I'm grinding them (plus the requests) instead of advancing the story... 🙄

Anyway, still a great game 🥰

I'm a few hours into #SoulHackers2 now, so I wanted to dump some early game thoughts

(Please no spoilers in replies)

Overall, as noted before, the game is visually *gorgeous*, and I particularly love the animated triangles on Ringo and Figue's clothing

The combat system is also a very good traditional turn-based system with a strategic tweak (hitting weaknesses gives you additional damage at the end of each round in the form of a "sabbath"), which I really, really like

Number 2 of 2022 was #SoulHackers2 a lot of people were disappointed with this game, and I can understand the criticism, but none of that bothered me. #ShinMegamiTensei is my fav series, and even though SH2 didn't have the name, it scratched all my demon fusing itches. The menagerie of demons has never looked better than in this game, and Ringo is a fucking boss protagonist.

Baller soundtrack, too

Persona 3 is coming out finally for PC and... while I prefer Soul Hackers 2 (the quality of life improvements and focused story kick ass), that's nice, that's perhaps the best Persona.

Posted a comment on one of Atlus' #SoulHackers2 YouTube videos, saying that it was one of my favourite games of 2022 (it is) and someone responded with the classic bullshit "lol, play a real SMT game" and this right there is why I don't engage with the rest of the SMT fandom online, because they truly are some of the most tedious, elitist, gatekeeping cunts on the entire internet.
