Roosevelt Station is so ugly. I wonder if there was an award for it.

Ah yes #SoundTransit blocking the sidewalk access to the light rail station
Today I rode the #seattle light rail for the first time! 🎉 🥰
It took less than an hour from the westlake station to #SEATAC. The airport bike racks were popin' too!
Things that made this commute awesome:
:vbike: all 5/5 miles to the Westlake station were in protected bikes lanes
:verifiabletrain: The train was quick, clean and safe! Even saw a few friendly #SoundTransit employees checking in on things
🌐 easy to find information on where to park my bike at the airport!

Ahh #SoundTransit never change. The 512 stopped at Northgate and let us off as far from the station entrance as possible and be on the bus area and by the time anyone could get to the first escalator the train departed. The second escalator up was out of service (at least we can use it as stairs, but also please fix all this Sound Transit!)
It annoys me that this keeps getting framed as a "labor shortage" rather than a budget shortage or budget allocation problem. I can only assume that if #SoundTransit raised comp for these positions they'd have better recruiting and retention.
“Nora Friend will join the agency as its Chief Communications and Engagement Officer, a newly created position overseeing Government and Community Relations as well as Communications, Marketing and Engagement. Friend most recently served as Vice President of Public Affairs and Business Development at TALGO, Inc., a Spanish high-speed rail manufacturer. Friend will start her new role on August 14.” https://www.soundtransit.org/get-to-know-us/news-events/news-releases/nora-friend-to-join-sound-transit-chief-communications #SoundTransit #Seattle #Talgo
Unaccountably annoyed to be reminded today that #SoundTransit Judkins park station — delayed opening probably 2 years — still has fencing that makes it very hard to navigate AND they poured new sidewalk last year which they’ve already dug up for some reason. Your dollars at work!
Sound Transit is planning to present absurdly expensive and excessively displacing plans for Everett Link tomorrow to the board. All to, presumably, avoid taking even the tiniest slivers of space from cars. Please write the board or sign up to give comment at the meeting. Board email: emailtheboard@soundtransit.org

I am once again asking #SoundTransit riders to let people exit the train before you start to shove your way on. #transit #rideretiquette #seattle #seattletransit

Flights to/from Seattle-Tacoma airport should just come with a light rail ticket both ways. Or alternately driving should be tolled the cost of a ticket. #Seattle #transit #SoundTransit

It's sad how quickly a clock, falling onto the street, can make the entire light rail system less useful #seattle #SoundTransit
“The U.S. Department of Transportation today announced that its Build America
Bureau will provide $327 million in low-interest loans to Sound Transit for improvements to its system.” https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews/news-wire/sound-transit-receives-us-dot-loans/ #Seattle #SoundTransit #LightRail #CommuterTrain

It’s been a week and #SoundTransit has barely done anything about the hole at Westlake. :(
Also so far as I know no major executive elected has made any statements about the highway capacity transit in the densest part of the state being completely messed up. Sound Transit gets away with being slow because politicians don’t really consider transit that important.

“Agencies can’t just abandon transit-dependent commuters, said Peter Rogoff, a former head of the Federal Transit Administration who also served as CEO for Seattle’s Sound Transit. Work trips there continue to grow as major tech firms call employees back to the office, but service workers never stopped riding, even when others locked down at home.” https://www.politico.com/news/2023/05/03/public-transit-office-workers-00094999 #Transit #PublicTransit #SoundTransit #Seattle

This morning's activity: emailing Mayor Harrell (#Seattle) and Executive Constantine (#KingCounty exec) to ask what they are doing to hasten the fixing of the #SoundTransit issues through downtown. For once a problem with ST is legitimately out of their control but without real political leadership and presence, ST will be blamed for it and it's having a hard enough time. :/

#SoundTransit #seattle #cityofseattle #BroadwaySubway sound transit hasn’t developed the technology to clean the messy broadway station. But they had the technology to build a 3 billion dollar subway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The public restrooms at the Link Northgate station will be closed until JULY. What the hell are they doing to them that takes FOUR freakin' months? @typewriteralley do you happen to know anything about this construction?
Inefficiency and nonchalance like this makes my blood boil.
figures the one time I don't tap my card is also the first time I get to interact with one of the new(ish) fare ambassadors 🙃 guess who's got a fare evasion warning #link #SoundTransit
I have sent my thoughts to the #SoundTransit board about the station selection nonsense they are doing today. A lot of noise is going to the CID question but basically every station they are planning in/near downtown has absurd choices baked in. It's depressing.
It is utterly bananas that the #SoundTransit board is set to vote on station options with so little information and without communicating with the public. I very much doubt southend folks who voted for ST3 are aware that ST3 may add 10 minutes or more to their existing trips to CID or other downtown locations. https://www.theurbanist.org/2023/03/21/editorial-sound-transit-is-not-ready-for-its-big-station-decision/
