1. At what point does each party have to schedule absences (eg does Rep Raskin need to be absent for treatment), sort of like scheduling watch when I was in the Army?
2. Does the pressure start to ramp up on around January 15, when Social Security/VA/etc. payments get messed up and Reps can’t do constituent services?

Watching the third day of the clown show that is the #SpeakerElection , one thing is blatantly obvious - that #tokenism is the only use the #GOP has for minority members. It's a repeat of the #HerschelWalker fiasco, an "I have Black friends" disclaimer to justify some truly #racist shit. It's more disturbing than just coming out and wearing their white robes; it's dressing their #racism in the clothes of equality. We need to be smart enough to identify and call out tolkenisn for the lie it is.

People who are laughing about the #SpeakerElection fight showing that Republicans are #IncapableOfGoverning are missing the point. The goal isn’t to govern at all; rather it is to make governing as difficult as possible, and if that means not governing, that’s just fine with them. Showing the government to appear “broken” makes people more willing to chuck #Democracy aside.
