Candidate for the most tenuous #Spectrum licensed game ever must be 1983's "The Shaky Game", based on the exploits of pop-rock sensation Shakin' Stevens.

In it, you have to drive Shaky to the vampire house, avoiding vampire bats along the way and... actually, that's it. No explanation why Shaky needs to get TO the vampire house...

It's terrible, but worth it for the highly realistic rendering of Shaky after each game.

The raddest dude of all, in this humble researcher's opinion, is the #C64 port.

It's different to the #Amstrad and #Spectrum ports (as usual). Slightly less colourful than the Amstrad, but also slightly smoother and with much better sound.

It captures more of the small details from the coin-op - like the metallic chink sound when you hit the robots, and generally feels more authentic.

It does have some weird control eccentricities, but not enough to ruin it.

C64 win!

The #Amstrad port turned out really well. It's kind of similar to the #Spectrum port, but a lot more colourful, which helps to reproduce the arcade look.

Like the other ports, it is somewhat hampered by a single button, but the up+button to jump works okay-ish.

It's the sound that lets this port down, being virtually silent in game. It doesn't even have the theme tune in the menus!

But, overall, a solid effort, and good to see the Amstrad showing what it can do.

If points were awarded for pluck and moxy, the #Spectrum port would score highly. It shouldn't work at all, but it manages a passable rendition of the coin-op.

Sadly, it looks a bit duff. Monochrome, as expected, but there's something kind of funny looking about your turtle. Sound is also a pale imitation of the original, consisting of only beeps and boops.

Still, it outpaces the other ports in terms of enemies on screen at once (six), which goes some way to replicating the frantic feel.

Worst of the 8-bit ports, sadly, is the #Spectrum version. But only just.

It's not terrible however. Presentation is great, with a lovely spotlight intro and great 128k music.

Sprites are chunky and smooth. Controls are pretty responsive.

Like the other 8-bits, the camera is locked, which works in its favour. You can leave the ring, but only at the bottom of the screen.

Wrestlers are kind of recognisable, but lose something by being monochrome only.

Solid effort though.

At the other end of the spectrum, is the #Spectrum.

#CrashMagazine gave this version 36%, and I think that was somewhat generous.

The graphics ruin this one, lacking even that classic Speccy-charm. One event in particular (BMX) looks like a borderline hate-crime. Sound is nonexistent, all of the colour and life has gone from the menus and control is pretty terrible.

Buuuut, all the events are in there, and it moves reasonably well... So it could have been worse, I suppose...
