In this morning’s NY Times, I found the obituary of a man I wish I’d known about earlier. Straughton Lynd was “a historian and lawyer who over a long and varied career organized schools for Black children in Mississippi, led #antiwar protests in Washington and fought for labor rights in the industrial Midwest”.
In a local connection (for me), he taught at #Spelman College in #Atlanta and one of his students was Alice Walker.
