Arrived recently in the mail: an exhaustive overview of the early years of #DonKirshner's self-named label -- yup, plenty of Archies and much more besides -- plus an exhaustive overview of "Yes it's like #SpinalTap but it's mostly #TheYoungOnes and they're all actually English and" etc.

We visited Stonehenge today. It’s a Neolithic marvel, a UNESCO world heritage site and it’s great to be able to show it to our friend from New York. Obviously, me being me, I spent the whole time quoting Spinal Tap and speaking in their ridiculous English accents, to my own great amusement if no one else’s. Imagine my delight to find this tucked away discreetly on their wall of quotes in the visitors’ centre.

Anyone else catch this on tonight's episode of #Pointless? Can't believe no one knew that #Girlschool was a real band!!! Only one person had heard of Diamond Head, while #Saxon scored a big 6. Meanwhile, Devil Warlock wasn't a band (it's the opposite of Angel Witch) and apparently Doppel Gang was an early name for #SpinalTap (although I don't remember that being in the movie). And who/what was Cloven Hoof??? #HeavyMetal #NWOHM #rock

The #SpinalTap claim that one of its drummers died in a "bizarre gardening accident" was funnier to me before about 5 years ago, when my father had one of his own, injured his brain, and died about 6 months later.

So, in this week's edition of #ExtremeGardening news, I took on the same overgrown oleanders that killed my father.

Unlike my father, I brought the right equipment: hard hat, glasses, gloves, and pole-mounted chainsaw (link below). Pole saws are better than ladders any day, especially when it's a freakin' chain saw.

Afterward, I fed my aching muscles a shake of whey protein.
