What a difference a large mirror makes!

Here are two images of the same object, Herbig-Haro 46/47. HH 46/47 is a pair of jets launched by young stars.

They are taken at similar wavelengths of infrared light. The difference? 's mirror was 85 cm (33 inches) in diameter, about the size of a hula-hoop. 's mirror is 6.6 meters (21.7 feet) in diameter, the height of a two-story building.

3. Digitale Medien haben in Kitas (IMO auch Grundschulen) nicht nur nichts zu suchen, sie sind *dort* sogar schädlich.

To learn more about this system, check out our papers on MIR AGN spectrum (Armus+22), highly ionized outflow (U+22), SF regions in the ring (Bohn+22), and ISM conditions (Bianchin+22, in prep). The spectral resolution improvement of over is jaw-dropping!

Finally, as part of NASA’s Cosmic Origins Program Analysis Group (COPAG), I participated in a study of the past and future of panchromatic astronomy from space. This beautiful document from the SAG-10 group (SAG = science analysis group) overviews the Great Observatories program and makes recommendations for the future.
