The project which came from some leading lights in the community is technically excellent, and open source. Digital or analog RGB to HDMI, with a raspberry pi and a small CPLD board.

It happens to be very low latency too. And it works for very many retro computers: acorn, amstrad, spectrum, ibmpc, dragon, tandy, c64, appleii, amiga, and on and on...
