There's a sale on #Ironsworn and #IronswornStarforged on #DriveThruRPG right now. They're awesome. I'm a huge fan of #Starforged and you should buy copies of them if you don't own them yet.

I’ve started writing up my #Starforged game: https://ctmiller.net/starforged-echoes/
Played played the first non-setup session of my #Starforged game. Took about an hour, played what I consider an episode. Was really fun!
Dear folks with more time than I have: write me a solo rpg that combines the mechanics of IronSworn: #Starforged with the setting of #CyberpunkRed. Because a solo Cybeprunk RPG based in that world with those mechanics would be so very fun.
Finished my first session of #Starforged. Really neat, fun time. I have always been awful at solo RPGs but Starforged strikes a great balance between mechanics and giving the player room to develop the fiction. Really digging it.
Joel realized that The characters in Mulan are playing Ironsworn / Starforged.
They start by swearing an epic vow TO DEFEAT THE HUNS.
Then they must:
Be as swift as a coursing river: edge
Have all the strength of a raging fire: iron
Be mysterious as the dark side of the moon: shadow
Be tranquil as a forest . . . : wits
. . . but on fire within: heart
And all the force of a great typhoon is clearly spending momentum.

The #ironsworn #starforged #TTRPG was already a steal at regular price, but it's on sale on #DriveThruRPG. Go get it if you don't have it and have a universe of #sci-fi #solo, #co-op, and guided fun! https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/391653/Ironsworn-Starforged

The Reference Guide PDF of #Ironsworn #Starforged #SoloRPG, printed on glossy A5 paper at a local shop and then #discbound on my own. Seems to work really fine for now, and will allow me to add/remove pages & session notes later as I learn the system! One important thing to note is that at the last moment I noticed I had to move the 4th page of the PDF to the end of the file, to fix how the page spreads & page numbers are arranged ( @shawntomkin could it make sense to fix in the original file?)

@dregntael Late to the thread, but in case you're still not decided, I recently asked on r/ironsworn for some non-combative Actual Plays of #Starforged: https://old.reddit.com/r/Ironsworn/comments/118m21n I got a reply from a guy who did a campaing with an explorer character, expressly avoiding combat. I found it very cool and interesting to learn from. Also, for a playthrough that I intend to eventually start on my own, I plan to explicitly Set A Flag on combat and avoid it. (I want to play a SF detective.)
@dregntael another #starforged
world truth idea for a non-violent campaign:
Every person intentionally killed by another conscious being has their mind uploaded by the Precursor Artifact and turns into some kind of alien-space-zombie and creates new problems for the civilization. Killing other humans is not only a taboo, but a Generally Bad Idea.
A lot of the cultures, traditions, procedures were created to avoid violent conflicts and create some consensus mechanisms.
@dregntael how do you see #Starforged as combat-focused? There is nothing I saw there stopping me from running it like #wanderhome , playing a diplomat, a community facilitator or similar. I have a few sketches of a Voidborn character helping people fix their habitats and a healer / naturalist cataloguing new fauna.
Even the very basic combat mechanic can be used for any kind of conflict, be it a debate, an attempt to persuade a community or win someone's favor.
It doesn't say "take damage".
@CalaStorylord #ironsworn and #starforged already give you rewards independently from how you solved a problem, the framework is pretty high-level there.
There's a Bond (connection), there's a Vow (quest) and there's an Expedition (quest): only these 3 give you XP.
Combat exists independently from them and while it can progress your Vows, Expeditions or sometimes even Bonds, it does not award you any points in itself. It also doesn't need to be violent, it can be a public debate.
I can imagine an #ironsworn #starforged game focusing on working with different communities, where instead of taking "quests" we learn from them, gather knowledge, cultural understanding.
Mechanically, independently from just Bonds with characters, the Background Vows ticks only when a new community is "bonded" this way. It's not "getting their support", but "including them into a chorus of voices".
It can be faction building. It can be writing a dictionary between spacefaring cultures.
#ironsworn #starforged features one really nice #solarpunk "move": Sojourn - usedspend time within a community, to rest, regenerate. Maybe we can build more on top of that?
What if we treat spending such time the same way as a Vow, a Bond, an Expedition: a progress track of getting to know them, getting their trust? Not just to single-handedly dictate a new solution (no heroes' journey), but to find a solution with them, sharing the diverse knowledge and perspectives?

One thing I'm thinking about is using #starforged "combat" rules as general tension, not even conflict, especially with social tensions and trying to convince people. You can be in control or in a bad spot in a discussion as well - and it's not just HP you lose, but also your spirit points, your supply, maybe some way to represent your standing with a community? It's more "resource-y" and granular than FATE RPG, but just as elastic.
Speaking #solarpunk #ttrpg : #ironsworn #starforged (a #scifi game) is about to have a new game jam ( https://itch.io/jam/starforged-2023-jam ) and I'm wondering: how would you introduce more Solarpunk elements to a #soloRPG focusing on a single character's journey?
One thing would be random tables detailing more interesting communities, traditions, working together more closely, more ecological tensions and threats.
Is there a mechanic that would create interesting, community-based plots?

If you’re a #DnD player inspired to look for alternatives and a healthy community with creators that care and listen, may I suggest #ironsworn and #starforged by @shawntomkin et al?
I never thought I’d find another #ttrpg that would grab me like DND but Ironsworn has done it.

in the context of #Starforged (Ironsworn in Spaaaaace), this shared creed points to a kind of reputation economy.
that's a very useful building block if you don't want the Cowboy Bebop "money rules everything around me" kind of thing — vows slot very naturally into a system of gifts, favors, and barter created by far-flung people negotiating a weird mix of hyper-scarcity and post-scarcity without centralizing economic institutions.
