For #FotoMontag a shot from last year, and another of Norway's famous stave churches ticked off the list. This one was at Lom and dates from the twelfth century, although its interior decoration is only a couple of centuries old.

My #MidweekMuseum today is the Norsk Folkemuseum (or Norwegian Museum of Cultural History) at Bygdøy in Oslo, Norway. It's an open-air museum housing dozens of historical buildings relocated to this area for preservation, and home of the Gol Stave Church (circa 1200 CE), one of three stave churches we've now visited in Norway when travelling. Who doesn't love a stave church?

#Urnes #StaveChurch. #Norway ’s oldest and most highly decorated stave church. This version is the forth iteration on the same spot and dates from around 1130, just after the #Viking age.
The sides include exquisite #woodcarving over 900 years old. These panels include the original main entrance door facade (on the right). They include a mix of christian and old Norsk symbolism.
Would recommend anyone visiting this area to take this trip including the ferry ride!
