The steamed pudding, gone all nice and dark, ready to mature for a month. #StirUpSunday
Make sure everyone in the house gives it a stir and makes a wish. This is important.
Bung it in the pudding basin. Use one with a lid unless you enjoy steamed pudding origami with greaseproof paper and string.
Steam for five hours, and that's it. Bung it in a cupboard and move on with your life. Then steam it again for five hours on Christmas Day, invert it on a plate, douse with brandy, set on fire, and feel like the Spirit of Christmas Present. #StirUpSunday #ChristmasPudding

It's #StirUpSunday, aka #pudding time. Follow this thread on Mastodon for my great-great-grandmother's Christmas pudding recipe. (You could probably make it next week but no later. You *could* have made it months back because they can mature forever, but did you? No.)
Wishing my fellow Christmas Cake makers a Happy Stir-Up Sunday. Hope your weighing, mixing and dolloping brings you joy and mindfulness.
Are you using an old family recipe or going by the book? Nigel Slater’s worked for me last year so I’m doing that again. Will also be respecting the old brandy-glugging tradition of ‘one for the cake, a couple for the baker’ 🤪
The icing design wasn’t Nigel’s, I might add…I was feeling very un-festive after a crappy year x

It’s #StirUpSunday and I’m ready to help. My suggestion of adding Dreamies to the mix has been taken under consideration.
Ooh, it's Stir Up Sunday!
David Walliams is a terrible writer and our children deserve so much better.
Christmas pudding was always a big thing in our family. Mum used a Mrs Beeton recipe, and made puddings for loads of people. Over time, the number of recipients diminished and when she became too frail, I took over (despite not liking the stuff myself).

Tomorrow is #StirUpSunday so this evening the fruit for the Christmas cake and pudding needs to go in the brandy to soak overnight. I never did this as a child, but it became a tradition for me and my fabulous #2 son. He's off at university now so this is my second solo year. #Christmas #FiggyPudding #Traditions #WishMeLuck

I don’t know when traditionally it’s supposed to be so I’ve made a start on #StirUpSunday and mixed up a Christmas Cake. Lovely..
