I’m a Fan by Sheena Patel was so good I read it twice! It’s about performative consumerism on Instagram, obsession and the terrible things people do to each other in relationships. My review is here:

Book 10 of my 10 choices for #20BooksOfSummer23 is Elena Knows by Claudia Piñeiro (tr. Frances Riddle) which is an affecting read. It’s structured around Elena’s doses of medication for Parkinson’s which is a great way to weave in the idea of ‘crip time’, something many disabled people recognise. It’s explored as part of a compelling mystery #bookstodon #BookReview #Storygraph #WITMonth

Book 9 of my 10 choices for #20BooksOfSummer23 is Strong Poison by Dorothy L. Sayers. The mystery revolves around Lord Peter Wimsey trying to figure out a tricky puzzle with little evidence to a tight deadline and introduces Harriet Vane #bookstodon #BookReview #Storygraph

@cbdawson another vote for #LibraryThing I've had an account for ages, but started using it properly only recently.
As others mentioned it does barcode scans and you can import from Calibre and other tools. I use it to track what I own, and #StoryGraph for what I read.
Book 8 of my 10 choices for #20BooksOfSummer23 is Free Love by Tessa Hadley, 2022. It was fabulous right from the first chapter which is a wonderful set piece that includes some amazingly awkward interactions between characters and shows you their inner thoughts in a gently amusing way, reminding me of Barbaara Pym and Elizabeth Taylor #bookstodon #BookReview #Storygraph

Book 7 of my 10 choices for #20BooksOfSummer23 is Moshi-Moshi: A Novel by Banana Yoshimoto, 2010, tr. Asa Yoneda. I fell in love with her elegant writing, gulping it down in a day! It’s about grief and human connection and the afterward about the importance of community was very touching #WITMonth #bookstodon #BookReview #Storygraph

Ein ting eg ikkje likar med #Storygraph : når det ein sjeldan gong fungerer å importere ei norsk bok via isbn, så kjem den tilbake med eit heilt random språk. Denne gong påstår dei boka eg skal lese er på rumensk. For eit par dagar sidan: fransk.

Just a for a different perspective: I tried #StoryGraph for a couple of years but gave up. I couldn't find any community there at all! The reviews all seemed to be buried under many clicks, and I'm not sure you could leave comments?
Currently I am tracking my books in both #GoodReads and #BookWyrm.

Thanks for all the #Storygraph endorsements! I'm using it now and already like it way more than #Goodreads and #Bookwyrm put together.
Whenever I can fix my freaking Nextcloud server I'll leave a reminder to myself to report back on my feelings once the novelty wears off 😝

@brilokuloj I really like StoryGraph. If my Goodreads people would leave that site, I would happily use #StoryGraph exclusively.
Also, if you like #reading or following along with others' reading, I'm on #Bookwyrm (https://bookwyrm.social/user/OtterForce), #StoryGraph (https://app.thestorygraph.com/profile/otterforce), and #Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/otterforcemedia). Always fun to find #SciFi or #Fantasy readers—particularly #SpaceOpera of the non-military vein, #Hopepunk, and queer or female lead #UrbanFantasy. Most nonfiction tends to be #business, #psychology, or #sociology related with a smattering of #history.
Welcome to boost to find me more reading friends :)

I finished A Conjuring of Light by #VESchwab today and it was excellent (though not categorized as #lgbtqia in #StoryGraph which is very sad and unfair to both my reading stat graph and Rhy and Alucard’s love). #amreading #bookstodon

Given the current brouhaha over #GoodReads, and that it seems generally a good idea to disconnect from #Amazon where convenient, what do people like as alternatives?
I have a #LibraryThing account, but it seems they haven’t really evolved much in the decade since I used them. Still has a very mid-2000s feel.
The #StoryGraph looks interesting.
Since I’m already on Mastodon as my primary social network, maybe #Bookwyrm?

@ronsboy67 @Kayray @thestorygraph I was going to suggest #StoryGraph too! I post both there and to #Bookwyrm.
Book 6 of my 10 choices for #20BooksOfSummer23 is Beautiful World, Where Are You by Sally Rooney, 2021 - I’m so glad I waited a couple of years for all the buzz to die down as I’d forgotten about the Normal People TV Show, and all the hype there was on this book’s publication, and really enjoyed the book more for it #bookstodon #BookReview #Storygraph

Book 5 of my 10 choices for #20BooksOfSummer23 is Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan, 2021, which puts a spotlight on a piece of shockingly recent history I didn’t know about (the Magdalene laundries) through the life of one man and there are so many poignant moments #bookstodon #BookReview #Storygraph

I'm finally on #StoryGraph, as keira_reckons, if you want to follow me there.
I'm not a big reviewer, but I'd love to see you all there so I can check out your lists and find new things!

I finally got an account on The StoryGraph. Currently my books are all from a Goodreads import, so I need to clean house quite a bit and bring it up to speed with my current reads. It's probably hundreds of books out-of-date--for now. Either way, if you use StoryGraph feel free to follow me and I'll follow back: https://app.thestorygraph.com/profile/tristan1206

Book 4 of my 10 choices for #20BooksOfSummer2023 is Yellowface by R. F. Kuang - yes, I know, it wasn’t on my original list but I got drawn in by the hype, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed this compelling satire about the publishing world #BookReview #Storygraph #bookstodon
