Its #Minnesota #FossilFriday! 🍃 Back up 100 million years from this week’s Pleistocene #MammothMonday ‘s tooth to some awesomely preserved Cretaceous leaf fossils. These specimens were found along the same river after some geological sleuthing.

Southern Minnesota has a mad mix of glacial deposits ground across Cenomanian shale, siltstone, sandstone, and limestone which were laid down by a Cretaceous seaway. 🦣🐴🐪🦬🍂

I work primarily on siliceous microfossils (#Radiolaria #Diatoms) and their relationship with past climate and oceans (#Paleoceanography #Paleoclimatology).
