To me, moving to Mastodon was liberating. I want Mastodon to be capable of absorbing future migration waves and maintain its independence.

I have one main account and two side accounts on other servers. I can't afford much, but I think Elon Musk's infamous 8-dollar (8-pound) fee is a good starting point for a monthly contribution to each server.

Good call. Have made an extra contribution to your ko-fi account. Will also publish a post of my own to remind my network to remember supporting their servers.

Base unit for a monthly contribution: 1 emusk, ie, 8 dollars.

Mastodonapp.uk has done incredible work in absorbing so much of the recent twitter waves (I myself arrived with the wave from the 5-November weekend). Hugely grateful to @wild1145 and all the volunteers at mastodonapp.uk.

@bigbeardedbookseller Absolutely this. I hope people realise that if a product you're using is free then you are the product.
If everyone just chipped in 50p every month there'd be more than enough to pay for any server charges, and it'd be a bargain for ad free, algorithm free, hate free content.

There are currently 67k users

Less than 1,000 are supporting the server at https://www.patreon.com/mastodondotlol

$2,604 isn't enough to keep the server on and keep someone occupied with managing it.

C'mon. If you can (and only if you can) consider pitching in a few bucks every month. )
