The radio adaptation of The Dark is Rising has finished. This is something I started with some trepidation, because The Dark is Rising sequence were so influential in my childhood. These books may explain my love of folk-lore, my love of strange traditions, mythology etc...

The adaptation is superb in every way. The script, the acting, the sound design, and the music all come together to create something truly special.

The Dark is Rising audio drama really ramps up the sinister mood in episode one, from the first moment of intro music onward. I never really thought of it as all that creepy, but I guess the first chapter is when you think about it.

@bensaufley Yeah, that's a bit weird isn't it. I absolutely love her poem The Shortest Day and it is very meaningful to me. And I guess I loved her secondhand because my daughter does.

But obviously I am overdue to read the series directly and am going to rectify that immediately!
