Swapped out my #ArgonOne case for a new #DeskPi case. All to get the #Pi4 shutting down cleanly with my #UPS but booting back up when all is OK again.
With default Pi passthrough power the unit would not stay down. So I tried to use a #SwitchBot but there was not enough space to install it on the AgonOne. Fortunately OK on the DeskPi. The only issue was that the DeskPi install on Ubuntu did not work correctly!! A simple recompile and it worked a treat. Next step to join the dots ...!!

#QNAP #WOL with Link Aggregation - I managed to get this working by modifying the settings on my Managed switch so that one link supports all speeds and the other supports just 1Gb. As the Server sets port to 10Mb for WOL this forces one link down - then just use etherwake to send the WOL packet to the MAC address associated with the NIC that is still up - and voila!! Now what shall I do with that #SwitchBot that I bought!!

Time to look at recovery post Power Outages - #UPS working well and graceful shutdown of my 2 #QNAP NAS devices.
So I added some Wake On LAN to get things back up again - but my NAS with 2 NICS does not support #WOL when ports are channelised. So #SwitchBot to the rescue, stuck to the front of the NAS with sticky and a quick bit of #Python later I now have a WOL like implementation. Next step to automate the recovery without manually running the WAKE script.

Yesterday I received some new #switchbot sensors and struggled for the whole evening to configure them in #homeassistant.

They worked fine in close proximity to the #raspberrypi 4 (using onboard bluetooth), but on their final location, they were out of reach.

Lo and behold, I just created a bluetooth proxy using an old #esp32 and #esphome and out of the sudden i can reach to more bluetooth devices than ever before!!

And the whole process just took over 10 min!!!!

Amazing projects!

Installing some new Switchbot Curtains again reminded how bad google Home is. Actually can beter link them through Home Assistant then depend on Google Home to natively figure out what to do.
