I was born in Smethwick and worked at Round Oak Steelworks in Brierley Hill before coming to live in London and Sydenham. Hence this article linking all the Black Country manufacturing of the Crystal Palace and it's final resting place less than a mile from my home fascinates me.

I hope you will find it interesting too and a reminder of the times when we could really make stuff.

Spontaneous Productions Sydenham launches GoFundMe over closure

Despite efforts to make new venue Home Park as welcoming as the last in Mayow Park, the company has struggled to attract its regular audience there.

Now, having racked up large losses and facing insolvency, the company is in crisis and is seeking support from its local community and those beyond.

All the best new London restaurant openings in September - by TimeOut fetures at number 2 Sydenham's The Balkan one-stop shop Mystic Burek. Run by Spasia Dinkovski it is situated just down on Dartmouth Road from Kirkdale replacing Gustosissima.

Opening date is September 21 and the shop will be open Thursdays to Saturdays from 12-8pm.

I have a #twitter feed for #sydenham. Over the last three days it has been overwhelmed by the #DailyMail #ulez story. All anti and from folks I've never heard of. Bots may not be dead.

Mastodon, by contrast, is a breath of fresh air (pun intended). Here not one against. As an acute asthma sufferer living 1 mile south of the south circular I can't wait.

I'm guessing these saboteurs are the same folks who dispute #juststopoil right to protest. Ironic.

Three appeal judges on Friday increased Beard’s term from 6 years 8 months to 10 years two months and Zietek’s term from 8 to 12 years after Solicitor General Michael Tomlinson argued that the sentences were unduly lenient
