in Buddy Willard's defense, didn't he contribute just a little bit to the madness of a femme or two?

Plathitudes
=========
The poet named Sylvia Plath
Was composing a poem in the bath.
Her husband, Ted Hughes,
Was far from amused:
“Tha’s wet all t’ coal, tha daft lass!”

Black lake, black boat, two black, cut-paper people.
Where do the black trees go that drink here?
Their shadows must cover Canada.

“I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life. And I am horribly limited.”

I hope this whole pic loaded. I saw this elsewhere & I’ve always felt a connection with her.

“How frail the human heart must be -
a throbbing pulse, a trembling thing -
a fragile, shining instrument
of cyrstal, which can either weep
or sing.”
From Maria Popova:
Sylvia Plath left at 60 years ago, slain by depression.
A link to her soulful reflection on living with the darkness and making art from the barely bearable lightness of being:

Heute ist der 60. Todestag von Sylvia Plath. Ich werde immer um diese Frau und Schriftstellerin trauern ...
1982/83 las ich sie intensiv - ein wichtiger Teil meiner Lesebiographie und Bibliothek.

60 anni fa Sylvia Plath se ne andava lasciando dietro di sé un vuoto sordo e insaziabile.
'It was my love that did us both to death''.
Sylvia Plath died on this day sixty years ago.

"Ever since Buddy Willard had told me about that waitress I had been thinking I ought to go out and sleep with somebody myself. Sleeping with Buddy wouldn't count, though, because he would still be one person ahead of me, it would have to be with somebody else."

Sylvia Plath | El candidato
[de «Ariel» 1965]
«Ante todo, ¿es usted la clase de persona que buscamos?
¿Lleva un ojo
de cristal, dientes postizos o muleta,
codera, garfio,
pechos de goma o entrepierna de goma,
costuras que indiquen que algo falta? ¿No?»[...] Seguir leyendo en:

Backward we traveled to reclaim the day
Before we fell, like Icarus, undone;
All we find are altars in decay
And profane words scrawled black across the sun.

"It’s a hell of a responsibility to be yourself. It’s much easier to be somebody else or nobody at all."
- #SylviaPlath
@Thebestisyettocome just to add, although Plath is mostly remembered for her tumulteous life, mental health challenges and eventual suicide, she was also extremely loving, courageous and funny. The joy and humour in her work are usually overlooked. Brilliant writer.

Let's face it: I'm scared, scared and frozen. First, I guess I'm afraid for myself... the old primitive urge for survival. It's getting so I live every moment with terrible intensity. It all flowed over me with a screaming ache of pain... remember, remember, this is now, and now, and now. Live it, feel it, cling to it. I want to become acutely aware of all I've taken for granted. When you feel that this may be good-bye..
