I realized a while back that I'm just not a singer. But it wasn't until #SynthV came along that I had a feasible solution to my problem (my shitty voice).

Now, listening to all these songs in #FAWM and #fiftysongs90days, most of these people are not singers, either. A lot of times, I'm thinking, the song is not bad at all but it's too cringy to listen to because the singing is just too distracting.

I just found out about Ace Studio, a fairly recent entry into AI voice synthesis for singing. They are based in China. #SynthesizerV is still the leader in this space and unless somebody seriously leap frogs them, I have no inclination to switch to anything else. I already have #vocaloid 5 assigned to the dustbin.

What is interesting though is that they are bringing #MoQinglian as a voice. I have that for Vocaloid, and it's a good Chinese voice. I was kind of hoping it would be a #SynthV voice.

AHS-Soft made available a free beta of Koharu Rikka for #Voicepeak (if you already own #SynthV Koharu Rikka). I've been playing around with it. It's better than your usual TTS. It took me a while to change the interface language to English, LOL.

I was thinking of using it for some introductions to songs sung by Rikka.

What I would REALLY REALLY love is if they would release English voicebanks for Voicepeak.

Sure, stealing other singer's voices is bad. I can get behind that. I still don't think AI singing voices are bad on their own though. You still have to have skill to make a good song. As long as we can keep a bar of entry, it can still benefit people positively. Just look at #SynthV and #Vocaloid. Many producers make amazing music with this tech. The AI scare is perfectly justified, but let's not leap at the opportunity to kick it to the curb entirely. If used properly, it can still be useful.
