Near the end of the experiment, the hairy willowherb (Epilobium hirsutum, Onagraceae) is growing, blooming and fruiting like crazy. In a few days - after 1/2 year of experiment - we'll know how pesticides and flooding have affected our riparian community.

Der Star ist Aphis fabae, die Schwarze Bohnenlaus, hier auf Silene dioica, der Roten Lichtnelke, montiert.

The invasive plant species Japanese knotweed and Himalayan balsam influence the abundance of soil arthropods and are characterized by lower richness of root-associated fungi compared to the native nettle in riparian habitats. Just published today in Biological Invasions!
