As @georgemsavva rightly pointed out, it's a bit hard to score more when batting second in cricket, so the headline of "batting first paid dividends" on my last vis is a bit..."well, duh" :blobpats: I blame the 2 AM wake up for my brain errors!

Here's another look at scores by innings data: the median winning target in matches was 162 runs, while teams that set targets around the 120-run mark were typically chased down.

Still hyped from Australia's win, even as tired as I am after staying up through the night to watch from all the way over here in Aotearoa - worth it! 💤

Reflecting on a great tournament by getting to know the Sportradar cricket data in more detail.

Teams scored more when batting first vs. batting second. There's a few different ways I could represent this data, which I'll play around with when I'm not exhausted haha...

I AM OUT OF SUPERLATIVES FOR OUR SUPERSTARS AND WORLD CHAMPIONS.

Utterly clinical, persistent and upholding the best spirit of the sport throughout this tournament and the years prior. A team which is, at least in terms of pure numbers, among the greatest set of athletes this world has ever seen.

These are moments we live for. And we're incredibly lucky that we've the team to have so consistently provided us this joy and instilled in us this level of pride. Such is their commitment that a few balls prior to the win, Moons was diving to stop a boundary.

The epitome of leadership is Skip. Cool, calm, collected be it with the bat (_that_ cut shot!) or in the field, bringing out the best in the team. Being meticulous with field selection in the final over even when the Proteas needed 27 to win. That's our Skip.

What can we say about the GOAT!? When she's not contributing with the bat or the ball, Pez is our favourite superhero saving boundaries and getting run-outs with that powerful arm of hers. And to think people said she was finished in this format last year.

This team = Everyone knows their role --> chips in. Jono said in her interview that she had doubts about whether she would be in the 11 for the final, but look at her here = brought in, gets the big wicket of Tryon and brings us closer to the title.

I couldn't think of a more deserving Player of the Tournament than Ash. She really got things going with the bat in the last few games after being moved up the order. Especially vital in today's final. And she was lethal with the ball right from the off.

An embarrassment of riches is our lineup. Moons being metronomically consistent as a T20 WC finals superstar with a vital, controlled 74* off 53. The rock of our order, Moons - deserved POTM in the final. And what can we say about our Midge in this tournament!?

I'll close by saying that I was walking around with my Aussie shirt on this morning, proud as - just as I did when we won in 2020!

And that I'm not CRYING, you are.

Australia were the only side in the tournament to average one boundary per over against both pace and spin bowling.

What the heck. You've all been good. My report card for the final is out from behind the paywall. Enjoy.

My report card, featuring monstrous arrogance, middle distance running, Beth Mooney's sad decline and uncatchy cricket slogans

Can confirm that this book is officially not out of date (except for the overall tally of Australian World Cup wins mentioned in the introduction). A fine trophy for Australia to throw onto their pile, but not cracking the top ten.

This was the first major Women's T20I tournament to feature an average 1st innings total above 140 (143.6), and the average winning 1st innings total of 159.8 was a fraction better than the previous record of 159.0 from last year's Commonwealth Games.

Where data is available (can only find ball by ball for the semi-finals & final in 2009), this was the first edition of the Women's T20 World Cup to feature an average powerplay run-rate of better than 6.00 rpo.

South Africa 137/6 (20.0) come up short, but should hold their heads high.

Australia, one of the greatest sports teams in history, win by 19 runs & claim their sixth T20 World Cup title.
