Email request from the vendor to review the £500 worth of #tado smart heating control system. I took the time to suggest buying a £10 POE separator from another retailer in order to reduce the need for a socket when positioning the internet bridge. Apparently this makes my helpful and considered review unacceptable but they thought I might like to try again. No thanks. I'll just stop reviewing for them.

When we moved in to our current house, from a place with a very successful #NestWiFi thermostat, we were pleased to find a #BritishGas Hive system installed.

We were very unimpressed to find that the hub was locked to the previous owners' email address and we had to buy a new hub to use *our own* heating system. But for that, we would probably have bought Hive radiator controls.

So yesterday I purchased and installed a #tado control system and eight radiator valves...

We shall see.

I am nerding out so hard right now. It’s been a while since I was so invested in new tech. Since last week I have going further and further into the home automation rabbit hole. Started with getting a #HomePod mini as a hub to connect existing point solutions like #hue, #tado, #Somfy and #ring. Then I installed #homebridge to connect all of it properly to #homekit and this evening I installed #node-red and made my first automation with it.

Started to dabble my feet into #homekit just bought a #homepodmini and have set up #homebridge. Having so much fun with the new stuff. Connected #tado #somfyprotect #sonos #jaguaripace #ring. Now waiting for #hue to support #matter as well as expose 3rd party bulbs via api from their hub. #smarthome

Buiten is het een kleine 3 graden. Binnen staat de #Tado thermostaat op 19. Met de aanvoertemperatuur van de CV-ketel op max. 50 graden lukt het nog prima om deze na-geïsoleerde vrijstaande jaren '50 woning te verwarmen met traditionele radiatoren voorzien van #radiatorventilatoren. En de warmtevraag is, afgezien van het 's-ochtends opwarmen, niet eens maximaal. Blij mee, want een #warmtepomp behoort dus tot de mogelijkheden.

Ik zit er aan te denken om een #tado thermostaat met bridge te kopen om te koppelen aan mijn Vailant ketel.
We zijn al erg bewust met het gebruik van de verwarming. Vraag me af of het veel toevoegd aan de besparingen.
