I’m working on identity ownership since many years. Replacing national citizenship with a self-owned global identity. The working title is #TCPID. What TCP/IP does for machines, I want to give to all human beings. Identity ownership as a fundamental human right. 1/2

If you show me your #SSI (self-sovereign identity) solution and it uses a #blockchain for more than anchoring (more or less timestamp) hashes/signatures, it’s not self-sovereign as it has a centralised element outside of user control. Simple. #TCPID

Which makes it a nice fallback option when there is no NFC reader available. Or it can be used to airgap data transfer between NFC tag and phone or other device. #TCPID

As far as I understand this whole stuff atM (learning by doing ;), you need to prepare cards for NDEF in specific ways with some card/chip specific "magic" that is documented, so no prob. But buying cards where this is already done - that's not so simple. #TCPID

So, yeah. Working with NFC cards is a complicated world. The NTAG21x more or less "just work" with iPhone (haven't tested Android, need an android phone with NFC first). All the other cards have their specific problems. Le sigh. I guess I'm going to build a sort of universal NFC formatter that sets up MiFare Classic, Desfire etc as proper tags that phones understand. #TCPID

The technical fundament, the core standard, has to be called TCP/ID. It's for people what TCP/IP is for machines. An #OpenStandard that allows for many, many applications while guaranteeing verifiable interoperabilty. And it sounds cool :) #TCPID it is :) 3/3

So from now on I will use the hashtag #TCPID while I explore the wonderful world of #NFC Tags and their possible potential for my decentralised identity project. I've decided years ago that we first need #OpenStandards for such a beast. 1/n

#fediverse, the #federated approach is still server-centric. #decentralisation is people-centric. That’s why we need a global identity solution that is open standards, open source. Identity ownership is IMHO a fundamental human right, not a business model. #TCPID
