Well, today's the big day for Jeeves! That's the feral cat I trapped and had neutered on August 13th. He spent a week in my bathroom after surgery, then two weeks in my garage to learn
(I hope) that this is "home base." I will continue to feed him and offer him a safe place from coyotes. He'll get a space heater in the winter.

I just cracked the garage door so he can now come and go. I thought he'd come streaking out after two weeks!

So far he's staying put. 😂 🐱

Jeeves, a feral cat I recently trapped and neutered, is still hanging out in my garage. I'm keeping him in there for two weeks so he come to see it as his home base. I'm hoping that when I crack the garage door and release him, he will understand that this is where to come for food and a safe haven from coyotes. I'll keep him warm in the winter also.

He tolerates me, but after 11 days in my garage he draws the line at #Caturday pictures. I can't say I blame him.

This is Jeeves, the newly trapped and neutered feral who currently lives in my garage 2 weeks after his surgery.

Previously he only let me stick my hand in near him if I was holding a fish treat. This #Caturday he just let me boop his nose! No fish treat! This is progress.

He shows obvious signs of having been someone's pet, so maybe I can re-socialize him. We'll see. Main thing is to teach him the garage is a safe place before I let him outside.

Jeeves the Bathroom Cat is now the Garage Cat! Even though he has blankets to lie on and a dog-sized carrier that smells like him, he is choosing to stay in this small extra carrier for some reason.

Since it worked with my last re-socialized feral, I just tried to bribe him with fish treats. As before, I'm allowed to reach my hand up to his face as long as it's offering a foul smelling fish treat tribute.

No hissing or scratching! Just this dirty look. 😍

Jeeves the #feral has done great in the week since his neuter surgery. Now he gets the run of the garage! He has some rubber balls to play with and some blankets to lie on in addition to the carrier he's been camping in for a week.

Naturally, he is crouched behind the recycle trash bin and won't come out. Cats, eh?

He'll be cooped up in there for a couple of weeks to establish that this is home base. Then I will crack the garage door and let him come and go as he pleases. #CatsOfMastodon #TNR

UPDATE: Behold the new Bathroom Monster! I think he's rocking his ear tip, don't you?

Jeeves is remarkably calm in there. So far he hasn't had any food or water, but he's chilling in the carrier in the bathroom, under an old sheet. We'll just see how this goes, in the meantime I'll give him space to recover from his ordeal. The bathroom is a safe, easily cleaned room for him to recover from being neutered. Big thanks to the charity for his surgery and shots!

I trapped this goober on Sunday night after confirming with the neighbors that he's feral. He's been on hold at a charity for their standard waiting period, and as expected no owner came forward. He also had no chip.

I just received the news that he has been neutered and vaccinated! He was determined not to be suitable for adoption at this time, so I will go pick him up now. I will keep him in my bathroom for at least a few more days post surgery.

My own dad is not on social media and, to his credit, does not want to be. Besides that, he disparages what he calls "the Hallmark holidays," including and especially #FathersDay. (No, this hasn't stopped me giving him cards and gifts, but we take religious holidays a lot more seriously than secular ones in my family.)

I also know this is a painful day for many people mourning either a loss or never having a father.
