The most remarkable features of the 14th century St. John's church in #Tartu, #Estonia, are the 1000 #terracotta faces and figures of medieval people. These figurines were crafted around 700 years ago. It is remarkable that so many have survived, since the church was abandoned for 50 years due to the damage caused of World War II.

The current City Hall of #Tartu, #Estonia, was built in the wake of the great fire that destroyed the heart of the city in 1775. It stands at the base of the hill from which the medieval Bishopric of Tartu was ruled.

The #Estonian National Museum at #Tartu is a daring modern architectural design. The location was home to Raadi Manor, the 1783 home of a Baltic-German nobleman. After World War II, it became Raadi Airfield, home to Soviet bombers. The contemporary building was the outcome of an architectural competition ending in 2006.
