@camerondotca It's amazing eh? I learned a bunch about #TeTiriti yesterday that really should be taught in schools - but it's that sort of thing that Desantis et.al are against being taught.
Professor Mutu describes #TeTiriti as NZ's First immigration document lmao

The first time ever, I was at Waitangi on Waitangi day. Attended the dawn service. What was really special was the different languages: Samoan, Tongan, Mandarin, Arabic, and Te Reo Māori of course.
I loved being here.

"If the Treaty had been honoured, there would have been no Land Wars, with their resulting casualties, in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. Perhaps more importantly, the Māori economic development would have continued, and the prosperity that was clearly evident in the 1840s and 1850s would have advanced as the rest of the economy moved forward."

This review of "The English Text of the Treaty of Waitangi" by Morgan Godfery is excellent!
Hardback is $50-$70+ but the ebook is currently on sale on Kobo for $16.99. Will be ploughing my way through it over the next wee while.

“The report recommend the Crown enter discussions with Māori on the constitutional make-up of Aotearoa and give effect to "treaty rights" in the country's constitutional processes and institutions, though it acknowledged the conversations would be challenging.”

Well, with Melon Husk destroying Twitter I have decided to find a new home here on the fuzzy elephant.
For those who find me I guess you should know a few things: I'm a #teacher in Wellington and I care deeply about the state of #education in Aotearoa. I am growing in my understanding of Te Ao Maori and hope to become a better ally and partner under #TeTiriti. I have a faith built on #compassion and love, not judgement and hate. I am a Dad and beginning #bowyer.

Classic slip from Seymour talking of co-government rather than co-governance. Does he understand the difference? Does he understand Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a founding agreement for co-governance? About time the Crown upheld its own side of the agreement# #TeTiriti
“To develop and implement a model for an inclusive Constitution for Aotearoa based on tikanga and kawa, He Whakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga o Niu Tireni of 1835, Te Tiriti o Waitangi of 1840, and other indigenous human rights instruments which enjoy a wide degree of international recognition”.

I do #publicpolicy and #publicadministration at #CanterburyUniversity #UOC.
I am all about using #indigenous #TeTiriti lens to improve #publicgovernance and #equity. I use #kaupapaMāori and #multivariate analysis. I have just finished working on the redesign of the #Aotearoa #health #hauora system.
I would love to connect with the former #patwitter crowd, #indigenous, #publicpolicy, #nzpol, #whānauora folks, and fellow #burmesecat lovers!
