I'm usually allergic to early mornings, but in Winter sunrise happens late enough that I can occasionally catch it.

These are the hills around, and water of, Lake Tekapo in NZ's South Island.

It rained for much of the 2 days we had in Kaikoura this week. I walked more than I should have, and am now paying the price. But it was worth it 😃

On the plus side, the views of the Kaikoura Ranges as they march down to the sea were lovely - moody, cloudy, washed out and grey...

Looking North along the edge of Lake Tekapo from Godley Peaks Road, near Mt John Observatory. I love the sense of space in the Mackenzie Basin.

Plate tectonics pushes the mountains upward to create the jagged peaks, while glaciers have smoothed parts out and formed the lakes.

Now, I'm not saying that a Buller's Mollymawk is a judgmental bird, but if someone gave me a scowl like this one, I might feel a little defensive...

I quite like the reflections in the water though. Taken off the coast from .

I see from the @eqnz bot that in especially in are going off at the moment... the cats have been on edge for couple days, we have had quite a few weaker ones up and down the Alps today, the ngeru seem to sense them more than we do. Hope its just them letting of steam, not a sign of anything more to come 🥺
